Chief Robert D. Bowlin II


          Chief Robert Bowlin started his career in law enforcement in the Winter of 1984 as a Reserve Police Officer after completing Basic Law Enforcement Training at Gaston Community College. He obtained an associate's degree in criminal justice from Wilkes Community College that same year. He served the Town of Wilkesboro for four years as a patrol officer and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1988. In 1990 he was transferred to the Investigative Division where he served as a General Crimes Investigator until being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1992. Bowlin obtained a bachelor's degree from Gardner-Webb University in criminal justice in 1993. After serving as Lieutenant Commander for three years he was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1995 and assigned to oversee one of the department's two divisions. He served as the patrol division commander for over 10 years until being promoted to the rank of Chief of Police in August of 2006. Chief Bowlin is fitness minded starting his day at the Wilkes Family YMCA. Though he enjoys several activities, running is his passion. Chief Bowlin is single and lives in Wilkesboro.
